The Musée d'arts de Nantes welcomes all visitors, whatever their age or situation, as part of a universal accessibility approach.

On this page you'll find all the information you need to prepare your visit!

All buildings are accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM). Adapted equipment, services and content are also available.

People with reduced mobility or tiredness

The entire museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility (PRM).

PMR parking :

  • Rue Georges Clemenceau (1 place)
  • Place de l'Oratoire (1 place)
  • Rue Stanislas Baudry (2 spaces)

Proxitan: stop in front of the museum forecourt

Access to the museum is via an external elevator located on the forecourt, rue Georges Clemenceau.

Inside, a range of facilities and equipment ensure ease of movement and comfort for all, and optimum access to the works of art:

  • seats are distributed throughout the different areas of the museum
  • manual wheelchairs, seat canes and strollers can be loaned on request from the ticket office.
  • elevators provide access to the different levels of the Palais, the Cube and the Chapelle de l'Oratoire.

Assistance dogs are allowed throughout the museum.

Blind and partially sighted people

For a comfortable visit, we recommend you come accompanied.

Canes with tips and guide dogs are permitted throughout the museum.

Tactile maps in relief and Braille have been installed to make it easier to move around the museum:

  • at the ticket office
  • on furniture for displaying maps on the various levels of the Palais and at the junction between the Cube and the Chapelle de l'Oratoire.

The elevators are equipped with Braille-translated protruding buttons, audible announcements and voice synthesis.

Tools for visiting

It offers an itinerary adapted to discover the essential works, from ancient to contemporary art, with :

  • audiodescription commentaries on works of art,
  • high-contrast images,
  • enlargements of selected works.

The Ma visite app can be downloaded free of charge from Google play and AppStore. Tablets and headsets are available on site (upon presentation of proof of identity).

Tailored guided tours are also available free of charge for groups..

People who are deaf or hard of hearing

For information, the deaf and hard-of-hearing can contact the museum's reception desk free of charge via a real-time interpretation platform.

3 communication modes are possible:

  • French sign language (LSF),
  • Completed spoken French language (LPC),
  • Instant Speech Transcription (IST).

Magnetic loops

For hearing-impaired visitors, magnetic loops (BIM) are available throughout the museum:

  • at the ticket office,
  • in educational workshops.

In the auditorium, portable magnetic loops are available on request.

Guided tours in LSF conducted by deaf mediators are organized regularly for signers. These tours enable visitors to discover the collections and temporary exhibitions.
