Where is the museum located?
The museum is located at 10 rue George-Clemenceau, next to the Jardin des plantes, less than ten minutes' walk from the train station (north exit) and the Château des ducs de Bretagne.
Is there reserved parking for visitors?
Pay parking spaces are available on the road or in the Oratoire parking lot near the museum, as well as an underground parking lot (parking Cathédrale) less than 5 minutes' walk from the museum. We advise you to come by public transport.
Is the museum accessible to people with reduced mobility?
Yes, elevators provide access to all exhibition areas. Canes and wheelchairs are available from reception staff (no reservation necessary).
Is the museum stroller-accessible?
Yes, children are welcome at the museum.
Preparing your visit
Do I need to reserve a ticket?
Reservations are not required to visit the permanent collections. However, for certain temporary exhibitions, booking a time slot is preferable, as it guarantees you access to the exhibition on the day of your visit.
Where can I buy my ticket?
You can buy your ticket on site from one of our receptionists or on the online ticketing.
Your ticket is valid all day for the entire museum. Last admission at 6:30 pm (8:30 pm on Thursday evenings).
What are the rates?
The full price is €9 for visits to the permanent collections and temporary exhibitions.
Reduced rates of €4 are available (18-25 years, 1h before closing time...).
Admission to the museum is free for under-18s, the unemployed and the disabled.

What payment methods are available?
Cash, cheque, credit card, culture cheque, vacation cheque (ANCV).
Can I exchange my ticket or get a refund?
The ticket is neither exchangeable nor refundable.
Can I visit the museum for free?
Yes, it's possible every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm all year round, and on the first Sunday of every month (except July and August). Also on European Heritage Days, Museum Night, Museum Spring and VAN (Voyage à Nantes) Night.
How long does a visit take?
The length of a visit varies from person to person and from exhibition to exhibition. Between 1h30 and 2h for a quick or targeted visit, otherwise allow around 4h if you visit the whole museum.
How do I go about bringing a group (adults, schoolchildren, leisure center)?
If you'd like to come with a group of adults or a school class, you can check out what's on offer on our website in the Visiting section. A pre-booking form must be sent at least two months before the date of your visit.
What activities does the museum offer?
The museum offers a wide range of activities (tours, workshops, concerts, lectures, etc.) which you can consult in thequarterly calendar.
Most of these activities are subject to booking, either on site or via the online ticketing New window.
How can I receive museum news?
You can subscribe to our newslettersfollow the museum on social networks Facebook New window and Instagram New window. The Agenda section of the museum's website lists all the activities and exhibitions on offer.
If you're not very comfortable with the Internet, a paper version of the quarterly diary is available from the museum reception desk.

Are there locker rooms?
Yes, lockers are available. Items larger than 55cm x 35cm x 20cm are not accepted.
Do you have audio guides?
Staff can provide you with an audio-guide (tablet + headphones) on presentation of proof of identity. It is available in French, English and Spanish. You can also download the free Ma visite application onto your smartphone.
Can I take photos in the museum?
Yes, but without the flash.
I don't have much time for a visit. Is there a recommended itinerary?
There's a "must-see" tour route to discover the museum's masterpieces in 30 minutes or over an hour. The booklet is available at reception.
Is there a store?
Yes, the bookshop-boutique welcomes you every day, except Tuesdays, from 11am to 7pm (until 9pm on Thursdays). Opening at 10 a.m. in July and August.
Can we eat on site?
Yes, the Museum Café is open from 11am to 7pm except Tuesdays, and from 11am to 9pm on Thursdays. For further information, please call 02 51 12 93 09.
I've forgotten an object at the museum. How can I get it back?
You can recover lost items at reception during opening hours.
