Vincent Mauger

Morning stars

July 7, 2020 to May 31, 2021

Installation view

On the forecourt of the Musée d'arts Étoiles du matin, artist Vincent Mauger presents strange warriors made up of elements of antique armor repainted in different military hues, deliberately blending almost contradictory orders: play and war, merchandise in the shop window and classical sculpture, the ancient and the contemporary, the calm of the museum and urban violence.

The title Morning Stars refers both to the planet Venus or the shepherd's star, which guided travelers at dawn, and to a particularly terrible weapon from the Middle Ages, whose metal mass at the end of the handle unfurled like a sharp star.
