The Musée d’arts de Nantes

At the Musée d’arts de Nantes, nine centuries’ worth of Western art, from the Middle Ages through to today, interact across its exhibition spaces. Its collections encompass more than 14,000 pieces, nearly half of which are modern and contemporary artworks. Around 900 exhibits are on display and the layout of the collections is redesigned at regular intervals so that visitors can appreciate a constantly refreshed, wholly original experience. At the museum, come and admire masterpieces from all over the world, by world-famous artists!

The museum complex is graced with past and present-day architectural styles, where visitors can enjoy a comprehensive tour offering a unique perspective on nine centuries’ worth of visual arts. Three audacious temporary exhibitions are held every year, giving visitors the chance to see other artworks from all over the world.

As a place brimming with discoveries, the Musée d’arts de Nantes plays host to a wide range of disciplines: dance, theater, concerts… the museum takes a cross-disciplinary approach and strives to be accessible to all. Every Thursday evening, the museum is open for free until 21.00. These late-night openings regularly feature a refreshingly different program, with surprises aplenty for visitors.

As a museum that embraces movement, it is also somewhere to simply enjoy a wander and lunch at the café or on its outdoor terrace in the summer. You are also welcome just to pop in to the Museum shop for a browse. The multi-faceted experiences in store at the Musée d’arts de Nantes make it a must on the museum scene in the West of France and, with the €15 annual Museum Pass (valid for all the museums in Nantes Métropole), you can visit whenever you like!
