Le Musée d'arts de Nantes

A respected authority on the French museum scene, the Musée d’arts de Nantes is one of the few fine art museums to have continually developed its collections with pieces by living artists. Today, it treats visitors to a fully-fledged journey through the history of art with more than 900 artworks (paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and installations) on display, ranging from the Old Masters to contemporary art.

History

Named the Musée des Beaux-Arts before it became the Musée d’arts de Nantes, this Nantes museum has always kept up with the times. A unique history, enriched by the dedication of stakeholders locally and further afield who have gradually forged the identity of the foremost museum in the West of France.

The spaces

It’s not just artworks that are restored! Since it reopened in 2017, after renovation and extension works, the Musée d’arts de Nantes has boasted extensive exhibition space and services for users. Between historical and contemporary architecture, the visitor experience is unique!
